Transformer plywood Elkon
![]() | This is a special wood composite material with high insulating properties often called transformer wood or transformer plywood. Due to its excellent dielectric and mechanical properties it is widely used for production of power transformers. We sell it under our brand name ELKON®. Elkon® is produced by gluing together, in high temperature (145-150oC) and under high pressure (6-12 MPa), beech veneers 2 mm thick bonded with special phenol-formaldehyde resin. Structure of transformer plywood can be crossed when the grain in neighbouring layers is at right angle and parallel with the grain laid parallel in each layer. |
| Type | Arragment of veneers | Density |
| P1 | parallel | > 0,7≤ 0 0,90 g/cm3 |
| P2 | parallel | > 0,90 ≤ 1,10 g/cm3 |
| C1 | crossed | > 0,70 ≤0,90 g/cm3 |
| C2 | crossed | > 0,90 ≤1,10 g/cm3 |
| C3 | crossed | > 1,10 ≤ 1,20 g/cm3 |
| C4 | crossed | > 1,20 ≤1,30g/cm3 |
| CPC5 | mixed | > 1,0 ≤1,20g/cm3 |
